1998 Volkswagen mk1 Caddy-Club Pickup (bakkie)
Maroon 1998 Volkswagen Mk1 Caddy Bakkie 1.6 carburetor. When I first bought the bakkie, the idling was out, the carburetor over fueled the engine and also had a blue-ish smoke coming out the back. The bakkie also had a grinding noise coming from the front wheels as the wheel hubs & bearings were worn out. Also, both sides' inner and outer cv boots were torn with no grease inside it and steering rack were very loose. The bakkie's interior is still in a good condition. No cracks on the dashboard, all gages and clocks, as well as all the knobs and switches are in working condition. I've spent quite a few bucks on the engine and suspension and the following is what I got fixed / replaced: - Engine top head sent for skeming with new valve stem seals & valve guides and new gasket - New waterpump & thermostat - New Left & Right complete cv joints - New Left & Right wheel hubs & bearings - Steering rack - New fuel pump - Wheel alignment The only maintenance the bakkie needs is the following: - Left front shock mounting - Carburetor kit for the carburetor - Left windscreen wiper (current one doesn't move) - Drivers' side window-winer (currently, the window does close and open but needs some elbow-grease) Other than the above, the bakkie is very neat, drives comfortable and handles long distance roads very well. The bakkie has canopy and that comes with a rubber mat + mattras in the back. - Protea Heights, Brackenfell
